Current Opportunities

I welcome enquiries from prospective PhD students interested in robotics, embodied intelligence, wearable sensing, bioelectronics, human–robot interaction, and AI-enabled healthcare systems. Please email me your CV and a brief description of your research interests.

Other PhD Funding Opportunities

  • Aberdeen–CSC PhD Studentship (Chinese students only) — The University of Aberdeen may waive international tuition fees, while the China Scholarship Council (CSC) provides a living allowance. The scheme normally involves a two-step application process.
    Step 1: Submit a full PhD application in English to the University of Aberdeen. Applicants normally need to obtain the required University offer before proceeding with the CSC application.

    Step 2: Eligible candidates then submit a separate application to the CSC in China according to the CSC application timetable.
  • Commonwealth PhD Scholarships — Commonwealth PhD Scholarships support eligible applicants from least developed countries and vulnerable states in the Commonwealth to undertake full-time doctoral study at a UK university.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should normally have, or be about to obtain, a strong undergraduate or Master's degree in an appropriate area of engineering, computer science, robotics, artificial intelligence, or a related discipline.

Applicants whose first language is not English will need to meet the University of Aberdeen's English language requirements and provide appropriate evidence of English proficiency before commencing their studies.

I am open to hosting visiting PhD students and researchers whose research interests align with those of the Multimodal Intelligent Robotics Lab.
